Inauguration on the University’s 23rd Anniversary

As part of the commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of the founding of Koya University, the student entrepreneurship project entitled "My First Business" was officially inaugurated on campus on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, His Excellency Qubad Talabani.

Executive Delegation and Student Engagement

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Koya University President Prof. Dr. Mohammed H.S. Zangana, the Mayor of Koya District Mr. Tariq Haidari, alongside members of the University Council, faculty, administrative personnel, and students. During an on-site walkthrough, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani engaged directly with student entrepreneurs and project supervisors, reviewing the practical mechanisms and business models driving the ventures.

University Initiative and Eight Campus Enterprise Kiosks

"My First Business" represents an institutional initiative launched by Koya University to generate micro-employment opportunities, provide hands-on training in entrepreneurship, and deliver applied business administration experience for students and graduates. The project encompasses eight modern commercial kiosks deployed across the campus perimeter, offering young innovators a supportive environment to launch independent ventures and manage market dynamics firsthand

Alignment with Strategic Plan and Youth Empowerment

This initiative actively operationalizes the foundational pillars of "Student Success and Employability" and "Community Outreach" embedded within the Koya University Strategic Plan (2023–2027). By bridging the transition from academic learning to independent economic enterprise, Koya University reinforces its institutional mission to prepare innovative, proactive graduates for the regional workforce.
