The Department of English Language, Faculty of Education, Koya University, held a workshop on the research projects of the department's fourth-year students under the subject matter "Building Bridges between University and Community through Scientific Research."

On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in the presence of an impressive number of teachers and students as well as Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Rostam Salam Aziz, the Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Safin Jalal,  a workshop on the research project of the department's fourth-year students with the theme "Building Bridges between University and Community through Scientific Research" in the Koya University's presidential hall was conducted.

Head of the Department of English Language, Dr. Payman Zorab Aziz, extended a warm welcome before the workshop officially started.

After that, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Rostam Salam Aziz, delivered the Koya University Presidency message.

Two panels made up the workshop, and the fourth-year students in each panel gave the following examples of their undergraduate research:

Panel 1:

Perez Qadir is the panel's moderator.

  • The paper "Problems of Explicit Translation of Secondary School Textbooks from English into Kurdish in Kurdistan Region-Iraq" was delivered by student Omar Zrar Hussein.
  • "Teachers' Perceptions on Large Size Classes in Kurdistan Region Iraq: A Qualitative Approach" was the title of the student Gashaw Fakhr Abdullah's presentation.
  • "Challenges of Teaching Listening Skills in High Schools in Kurdistan Region-Iraq A Qualitative Approach" was the title of the student Safar Mohsen Saeed's presentation.
  • "Classroom Environment in Public and Private Schools in Kurdistan Region-Iraq: Comparative Study" was the topic of a presentation by student Chenar Ibrahim Qadir.

Panel 2:

Ibrahim Taha was the panel's moderator.

  • Presenting her research on "The use of literary texts in high schools English textbooks in Kurdistan Region, Iraq," student Shinya Aram Ahmad discussed the findings at a presentation.
  • The paper "Challenges of Teaching Speaking Skills in High Schools in Kurdistan Region, Iraq: A Qualitative Approach" was given by student Taban Omar Mohammed.
  • The presentation by student Avan Jerjis focused on " On the Implementation of student-centered learning in public secondary schools in Kurdistan Region-Iraq.
  • The article "Challenges of Teaching Speaking Skills in High Schools in Kurdistan Region, Iraq: A Qualitative Approach" by Muhammed Dana Bakr was presented.

At the conclusion of the panels, there was time for questions and answers, perspective exchanges, and academic and professional discussions.
