Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, president of Koya University, presided over the meeting. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Iraqi Handball Federation and the Faculty of Physical Education.
On Thursday, May 4, 2023, a delegation of the Iraqi Handball Union led by Dr. Ahmed Riad Talib visited Koya University to sign a memorandum of understanding between Koya University and the union A number of students from the university and the city visited Koya University.
During the visit, the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nabaz Abdullah, accompanied by the President of the Iraqi Handball Federation, Dr. Ahmad Riad Talib, visited the Presidency of Koya University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, were welcomed.
Mr. President expressed his appreciation for the guest delegation's visit during the meeting and emphasized the need to create a bridge for collaboration between Koya University/Faculty of Physical Education and all local and international stakeholders in the world of sports.
The President emphasized Koya University's willingness to host any kind of athletic event and commended the university's attempts to create coordination with the Iraqi Handball Federation.
For his part, Dr. Ahmad Riad Talib, President of the Iraqi Handball Federation, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and his delight to be at Koya University. He also expressed his enthusiasm for the university's setting, environment, and academic workforce.
Dr. Ahmad emphasized the significance of the Memorandum of Cooperation and highlighted about Koya University's capacity to hold regional, national, and international competitions, particularly women's handball competitions.
Later, the memorandum's signing was overseen by Koya University President Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq. From faculty of ohysical education/ Koya University's Asst. Prof. Dr. Nabaz Abdullah and the Iraqi Handball Federation's Dr. Ahmad Riad Talib both signed the agreement.
Dr. Hawkar Bapir, the director of communications, and Mr. Mohammed Saydgul, the director of media, were present at the signing ceremony.
The content of the memorandum of cooperation are following:
1- participation of the teaching staff in mediation and professional development programs.
2- organizing collaborative events and competitions with college students.
3- arranging refereeing training sessions for the Referees and Observers Academy of the Iraqi Handball Federation at Koya University and choosing students to take part in the refereeing activities of the Iraqi Handball Federation.
4- Organize workshops and training sessions for coaches and a few faculty members at Koya University, and incorporate them in national team training sessions.
5- Members of the arbitration and training committees will be exchanged around to provide lectures at seminars, training sessions, and arbitration courses that will be held by both parties inside and outside of Iraq.
6-exchange of coaching techniques and other information relevant to the participants' interests in sports.
7- Teachers from Koya University will participate in the events and competitions that the Iraqi Handball Federation hosts at the local and international levels as experienced coaching staff and referees.
8- participation of authorized referees in competitions and other activities organized by the Iraqi Handball Federation.
