During the Koya Festival, Koya University held a long-distance running competition for students and other athletes.
The Koya Festival was conducted on Monday, May 15, 2023, with the supervision of his highness Mr. Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, in the presence of Ms. Zhwan Sabir, Director of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government , Koya University President Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, foreign consuls, members of the Kurdistan and Iraqi parliaments, council members of the Koya University, administrative leaders, political party members, and social figures from Koya, as well as local and international guests, performed some sort of activities.
The Koya University's activities featured a marathon, an exhibition of student’s work from its three faculties of (Engineering, Science & Health, and Education), final match in chess, ping pong, and futsal tournament, as well as a display of Kurdish cloth from different periods in history.
More than 120 participants, both boys and girls, competed in the Koya University Marathon to kick off the university activities.
10 boys and 10 girls took first and second place after the participants covered the five kilometers of the marathon track. The first three winners received unique trophies, while the remaining seven winners received special medals.
The first, second, and third girls in the final line were Begard Lawa, Anya Faryad, and Lya Shamal. The third award was provided by Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, the second was provided by Mr. Abbas Fatah, a Kurdistan Parliament member, and the first was provided by Ms. Kurdo Omar, an Iraqi Parliament member.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Mohammed, Mohammed Nozad and Akar Bapir won the first, second and third places for boys. The first prize was provided by the Director of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Ms. Zhwan Sabir, the second prize was provided by Agent of the Ministry of Justice Ms. Shilan, and the third price was provided by Dr. Zeynedin Mawloud Amukai, Agent of Ministry of Endowments & Religious affairs.
Following that, medals were given to the boys and girls marathon winners.
