In Koya University's Presidency Hall, the Department of History at the Faculty of Education hosted a workshop titled " social situation of Kurdish society and its impact on the course of its history"

On Monday, May 6, 2024, in the presence of Vice President of Koya University for Student Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Qaraman Nadir Sheikh Bzeni, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Safin Jalal, and lecturers and students of the Koya University’s Department of History held a workshop entitled "social situation of Kurdish society and its impact on the course of its history" in the Presidency Hall of Koya University.

The national anthem "Ay Raqeeb" and a standing ovation honoring the spirits of the Kurdish martyrs started off the workshop, Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Hoshmand Ali, the head Department of History, gave a speech outlining the goals and intentions of the workshop.

The workshop consisted of two main panels, Dr. Amanj Salam Hamdamin chaired the first panel and the following topics were presented:

- "The situation of Zagros society and its influence on the political history of ancient Kurdistan" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kamran Mohammed Jalal.

- "The Inefficiency of Kurdish Society and its Impact on Future-Building from the History of the Middle Ages to the Present" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kamran Aziz Abdullah.

- "The Situation of Kurdish Society Between Urban Development and Tribal Power" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hiwa Hamid Sharif.

- "Land Reform and its Political-Social Impact on East Kurdistan Society 1963-1978" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdulrahman Saeed.

The second panel was moderated by Asst.Lect. Chia Jawhar Omar and the following topics were presented:

- "Kurdish Society under the Influence of Natural Disasters" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mahdi Osman Hussein.

-"Kurdish Society in the Perspective of Syriac Historians" was presented by Dr. Zardasht Dilshad Khidgir

-"The Influence of Tribe on the Trend of Kurdish Society Between 1850-1918" was Presented by Dr. Zana Tayfoor Abdulsamad.

-"The Role of Farmers in Kurdish Revolutions from the Perspective of Mam Jalal" was Presented by Dr. Kewan Jabar Abdullah.

The workshop's issues and discussions were enhanced by the attendees' remarks and recommendations.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
