A workshop identified as "Congenital and Rheumatic Diseases in Pediatrics" was organized at Koya University's Faculty of Medicine.

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, the Faculty of Medicine at Koya University, in collaboration with Takvin organization, held a workshop entitled "Congenital and Rheumatic Diseases in Pediatrics" with the participation of Dr. Dawan Hawezi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Koya University, as well as instructors, students, and local guests.

The workshop began with a welcoming speech by the Dean of Koya University's Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Dawan Hawezi.

Dr. Sarkar Fwad and Dr. Shang Shawkat chaired the workshop's panels, which featured presentations from Dr. Govand Saadaddin, a family physician and assistant professor at Koya University's Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Chra Kawa Hawezi, a rheumatologist and head of the department of rheumatology and rehabilitation at Rzgari Teaching Hospital in Erbil, and a lecturer at the College of Health Sciences.

The following speakers covered additional subjects: Dr. Gashin Abdulwahid Hawezi, a doctor of rheumatology and assistant professor in Koya University's faculty of medicine, and Dr. Hoshmand Jamal, an orthopedic surgery expert and assistant Lecturer at Koya University.

Participants had the chance to ask questions during the panels, and the presenters provided further insight to the discussion.

This workshop was organized in accordance with Koya University's strategic plan, which centers upon the "Community Outreach" pillar. Koya University is striving to better comprehend society and seek solutions to its issues and difficulties within the framework of this strategic plan's main pillar.

Koya University (KOU) is located in the city of Koya (Koy Sanjaq) which is 1.0 hr drive to the East of the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil (Arbil, Hewlér) in Kurdistan Region of F.R. Iraq. KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+. KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021). Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
