Following the achievements of the students from the Department of Software Engineering in the Huawei ICT Competition, Huawei awarded certificates of appreciation to a lecturer and a student from Koya University.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2024, a delegation from Huawei, led by Dr. Jamal Nouri Ahmed, General Manager of Huawei Iraq Relations, and Dr. Mardin Abdullah Anwar, Representative of the Huawei ICT Support Center in Iraq, visited the College of Engineering at Koya University. They were received by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Jlawaez Bakr Bapir, Deputy Dean Dr. Goran Abdulrahman Muhammad, Head of the Software Engineering Department Dr. Soran Sabah Hussein, and other faculty members.

During the visit, the Huawei delegation praised the skills of the students in the Software Engineering Department, highlighting their achievements in the Huawei ICT Competition.

As part of the visit, the Huawei delegation presented a certificate of appreciation to the academic supervisor of the Huawei Academy at Koya University, Ms. Lade Sardar, and the student Bawar Zrng, who secured second place globally in the Huawei ICT Competition this March.

At the end of the visit, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Galawaez Bakr Bapir, expressed gratitude for Huawei's support and collaboration with Koya University, appreciating the efforts of Dr. Jamal Nouri Ahmed and Dr. Mardin Abdullah Anwar.

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Koya University and Huawei, the Huawei Academy at the College of Engineering remains active, supervised by Ms. Ladi Sardar Abdulrahman and trained by Mr. Haval Abdulkarim Ahmed.

Koya University, through its strategic plan and its core initiative "Student Success," continues to work on enhancing the academic and scientific capabilities of its students. It also provides opportunities for participation in international competitions, conferences, and seminars to equip students with the necessary professional skills for a successful career.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
