Dr. Sahar Basil Mahmood the Director of the Heritage Conservation Research Program (HCRP) and Dr. Manar Nazar Ahmed the member of the HCRP, both are from the Department of Architectural Engineering (DARE) were participated in a 4-week International Advanced Training Course as part of the Aid for Mosul program entitled “Causes of Decay and Preservation of Building Architectural Heritage II” which was held on 5-30 Sept. 2021. The training course was sponsored by the Czech Republic and organized by the National Heritage Institute of the Czech Republic (NHI), GEMAART (GEMA), and the Iraqi Institute for the Conservation of Antiquities and Heritage (IICAH).
This training course was hosted in Erbil city. It has been a continuation of a previous international 4-week advanced course within the same Aid for Mosul program activities in September-October 2019 in which both mentioned HCRP members had participated. Aid for Mosul program advanced courses have remarkably enriched HCRP members’ knowledge in Heritage Conservation with its insightful information and inspiring discussions in conservation field, tours, and unique work environment.

Moreover, at KOU there is an English Language Center (BELC) at KOU has been opened with the sponsorship of IREX and American embassy in Baghdad as well as with the support of Spring International Language Center of The University of Arkansas. KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+. KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).
