A concert was hosted by Koya University to honor the 36th anniversary of the departure of Singer Tahir Tofiq, in collaboration with the Koya District Governor's Office and the Bawaji Music Group.
A concert commemorating the 36th anniversary of the departure of folk singer "Tahir Tofiq" which was performed by “Bawaji Music Group” in coordination with Koya University and Koya District Governor's Office took place on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, with the participation of major members of the Koya City as well as those from the political, social, and administrative sectors.
This concert was performed in accordance with Koya University's strategic plan, which centers on the "Community Outreach" pillar. Koya University will endeavor to integrate with society and meet its needs in light of this pillar. The identity, culture, and creativity of a civilization are preserved through showcasing artistic and cultural skill sets.
The Bawaji Music Group performed several original and traditional songs in honor of Kurdish folk singer Tahir Tofiq's 36th anniversary.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+. KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021). Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
