Prof Jørgen Eskemose Andersen the head of Human Settlements Department at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen, Denmark held a three days workshop on Urban Sustainability at the Faculty of Engineering (FENG) at Koya University. He believes Kurdistan cities need to wake up to the future needs of human communities and keep their traditional sustainable life style with their natural surrounding. The green and open space is a way to go.

Prof J Eskemose brought to attention many well planed urban design examples around the world and emphasised the elements that that are significant in creating a sustainable city, such as cheap effective and comfortable public transport, reduce car dependency, enhance the bicycle as a mean of transport, and public participant.
