The President of Koya University receives a delegation from the Presidency of the Republic of Iraq

The President of Koya University, Prof. Dr. Mohammad H.S. Zangana received a delegation from the Presidency of the Republic of Iraq headed by Mr. Ezz Al-Din Majeed Mohammad, Deputy Head of the Iraqi Presidency Office.

On Monday, August 31, 2025, the President of Koya University, Prof. Dr. Mohammad H.S. Zangana received Mr. Ezz Al-Din Majeed Mohammad, Deputy Head of the Presidency Office and representative of the President of Iraq, along with an accompanying delegation from the Federal Republic of Iraq Presidency.

This meeting took place at the Koya University presidency building with the attendance of the V.P for Financial and Administrative Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Yadgar Abdullah, V.P. for Student Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Ajeen Taher Saber, Director of Media at Koya University Asst. Lect. Muhammed Karim Saedgul, Secretary of Koya University Council Lect. Chia Jawhar, Director of Koya University Central Library Asst. Prof. Dr. Rozhgar Mohammad, Director of Financial Affairs at Koya University Mr. Mariwan Razaq, and members of the guest delegation.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mohammad H.S. Zangana, President of Koya University, welcomed the guest delegation and expressed his pleasure, while providing a brief overview of the history of Koya University's establishment and the university's institutional structure. He also referred to Koya University's strategic plan and its main pillars. Another part of the university president's speech included appreciation for the work and efforts of the President of Iraq, who continuously provides support and facilitation for Koya University.

For their part, Mr. Ezz Al-Din Majeed Mohammad, Deputy Head of the Iraqi Presidency Office, expressed their happiness at visiting Koya University and the warm welcome from the university presidency, wishing further progress for Koya University as a leading academic institution.

It is noteworthy that this delegation from the Iraqi Presidency visited the university with the purpose of providing financial assistance to 125 students from Koya University who need financial aid, as well as to present a number of scientific and academic books to Koya University's Central Library.

Koya University (KOU) is located in the city of Koya (Koy Sanjaq) which is 1.0 hr drive to the East of the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil (Arbil, Hewlér) in Kurdistan Region of F.R. Iraq. It is on the foothills of a beautiful high mountain. Its campus has been carefully laid out to embrace the beautiful mountainous nature.

There are 4 Faculties and 2 Schools in KOU; Faculty of Engineering (FENG), Faculty of Science and Health (FSCH), Faculty of Education (FEDU), Faculty of Humanities and Social Silences (FHSS), Shcool of Physical Education (SPHE) and School of Medicine (SMED).

Also, there are two research centers; Genome Center and Malai Gawra Center. Moreover, at KOU there is an English Language Center (BELC) at KOU has been opened with the sponsorship of IREX and American embassy in Baghdad as well as with the support of Spring International Language Center of The University of Arkansas. KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
