Within the framework of Koya University's strategic plan and the pillar of "community integration" and "student success", aimed at encouraging students to work in their scientific field, KOU, conducted several activities on World Diabetes Day.

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, which was marked as World Diabetes Day, the students of the third stage of the Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Science and Health and the Faculty of Medicine’s students of Koya University in coordination with IFMSA-Kurdistan conducted two different activities in the framework of World Diabetes Day.

The Third- year students of the Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Science and Health, KOU, conducted various activities in the morning such as awareness posters, brochures, and free diabetes tests for visitors in the central Park of the university.

Aram Saadallah, a third-year Department of Medical Microbiology student,  mentioned, as microbiology students proposed to conduct such an activity to raise awareness about chronic diseases. Also, he said  "We hope that Koya University will continue to support students to carry out such activities.

Meanwhile, Sahar Saadi, a Third student of the Department of Medical Microbiology and one of the participants and organizers of the activity, said that these activities increase students' self-confidence by gaining experience and interacting with the practical process of their science, in addition to that, she said that "they have provided information about diabetes to our visitors through brochures and posters.

This activity is in line with Koya University's strategic plan, especially the pillar of "community integration" and "student success", through which Koya University tries to play more roles in the community and offer answers to the problems and challenges of the community while providing opportunities to develop confidence among students and in this way ensure their academic and professional success.

The second part of the World Diabetes Day activity was held by the students of the Faculty of  Medicine of Koya University on Tuesday afternoon, November 14, 2023, in th central park of the university In addition to free diabetes tests, they also conducted several other medical tests such as blood pressure, oxygen and heart rate, BMI and eye vision tests for the visitors and also provided information and explanations about the tests to the audience.
