A delegation from Koya University, led by the university president, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq participated in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) held in Azerbaijan.

On Saturday, October 16, 2024, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq., President of Koya University, delivered a seminar during COP29 in Azerbaijan. The seminar was titled, "The Role of Universities in Combating Climate Change: Koya University's Green Initiative as a Model."

During the seminar, the university president highlighted the significance of the Green Initiative for Koya University, emphasizing its role as a core component of the university's Strategic Plan (2023-2027). He noted that the initiative was officially announced on May 16, 2024, under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Qubad Talabani. Since then, the university has been actively implementing projects related to the initiative.

Dr. Sadiq also discussed the design of the Green University Project and presented the steps and phases of its implementation. A special video showcasing the project's progress and stages was screened, drawing significant attention from the audience.

The seminar concluded with a Q&A session, where the president answered questions and elaborated on the vision and objectives of Koya University concerning climate change.
