On Sunday, April 20, 2025, students from the Civil Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering departments at Koya University participated in the Innovation Expo for Engineering, hosted by Knowledge University in Erbil. A student team presented a project titled “Glow Turf Stone and Plastic Road,” under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Rahel Khalid, along with Abdulsameea Rebwar, Lavin Azad, Vina Jamal, Hwma Arsalan (Civil Engineering), and Rozita Muhammad (Geotechnical Engineering). Competing among 175 groups from 19 universities, the team secured second place in the Civil Engineering and Architecture category. This accomplishment aligns with Koya University’s strategic plan, particularly the pillar focused on “student success and employability,” which aims to nurture innovation, skill development, and professional preparedness.
