Koya University Instructor Taking Part in a Fulbright Program

Along with six other candidates from different universities and educational institutions in Iraq, Dr. Saffeen N. Arif, an instructor at the Department of English, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Koya University, was selected to take part in the ten-week Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Iraq (June 29, 2014 - September 6, 2014). The host city chosen was Boston, and the host institution was the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston), one of the distinguished universities in the United States.

A New Research Paper Has Been Published in the Springer-USA

Koya University Researcher Mr. Ribwar Abdulrahman, a Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering (FENG), has published a new research paper on natural gas processing engineering, Effect of lean amine temperature on amine gas sweetening: case study and simulation.

New Article Published İn International Journal By Koya University's Scientist

  Koya University Researcher Dr. Fahmi Fariq, Head of Department of Physics and Lecturer at the faculty of Science and Health, has published a new research paper on the Gaq3 material, a novel organometallic material which can be utilized in the Organic Electronics technology. The article is to be appeared in Materials Chemistry and Physics, and it is now available worldwide through the journal’s homepage. The core finding of this research work includes the modification of Gaq3 morphology to produce nanostructure patterns.

Koya University lecturer is a Fulbright Candidate

Koya University's academic member Mr. Sarkawt Amir Sabir who is an assistant instructor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of English, has been selected among his candidate peers on a Fulbright Program to teach at Reed College, one of the prestigious colleges in Portland, Oregon, USA for whole academic year, August 2014-May 2015.    Interestingly, it is a nine-month non-degree program that provides young instructors an opportunity, apart from teaching, to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency, and extend their knowledge of the cultures of the United States.

Koya University Web Ranked High and Escalating

In two recent decades, the Internet has had a great impact on education and in particular higher education teaching quality and competition. New challenges are emerging constantly, which require global solutions for geographically distributed common issues that our modern societies are facing. Due to the global nature of the current education concepts and the evolving impact of IT on educating future professionals, the teaching methodology is continuously changing for better qualities. These challenges require support with communication, interaction, integration, knowledge transfers, and shared up-to-date best practices. IT facilities such as the Internet can potentially provide integrated environments satisfying these requirements.

Dr Joanna Bocheńska visited Koya University

Dr Joanna Bocheńska visited Koya University on 05/05/2014 and held a public seminar on Kurdish Studies in Poland. Ms. Bocheńska is a sineior reseacher at division of Kurdish Studies, Department of Iranian Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies of Jagiellonian University in Poland.   Dr Bocheńska covered the history of the Kurdish Studies in Poland since the nineteenth century till current days. She covered the role of important Polish Kurdologist and their studies, books published in various disciplines about the Kurds. Then talked about her efforts in this area, especially her studies of Kurdish literature and relevance the national identity.

2nd International Conference on Petroleum and Mineral Resources

Following the success of the 1st International Conference on Petroleum and Mineral Resources held in 2012, the organizers have decided to reconvene the Meeting in 2014, also at Koya University in Koya. Kurdistan is now emerging as one of the fastest developing areas in the Middle East, with its universities and research institutions playing a major role in the process. The region is rich in oil, gas, and mineral resources, as well as underground water.

Prof Jørgen Eskemose Andersen the head of Human Settlements Department at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen, Denmark held a three days workshop on Urban Sustainability at the Faculty of Engineering (FENG) at Koya University.

Sport facilities is inaugurated at Koya University

On Sunday the 27th of April 2014 Mr. Aimad Ahmad, the deputy Prime Minster of Kurdistan Regional Government inaugurated the new Sport Centre and Swimming pool facilities at Koya University. He was accompanied by Mr. Kamaran Ahmad, the minster of construction and  Prof. Xidir M Hawrami, The president of Koya University, The Mayor of Koya, Prof. Jawad Faqi, Dr. Sa’ied Salah and the head of Koya District managements along with Deans and Instructors of Koya University. In a cheerful ceremony they jointly inaugurated  the new Sport Centre and Swimming pool facilities.
