Coronavirus pandamic forces all Universities, institutions and research labs to shut down. The universities are shifting classes online. In this trend, KOU completed a one month training courses to all 25 departments, individually, on the online learning. Prof. Salah I. Yahya, the Director of the QA&CD at the University with his office members: Ms. Chra Maroof, Ms. Kenana Nouri, Mr. Alan Nahro, Ms. Haneen Hayder, Mr. Othman Kamal, Mr. Hawre Jabbar and Mr. Hardi Hamza were organized the training course.

Due to the coronavirus pandameic and due to the curfew in the most countries worldwide, most of the universities closed their doors and started the online learning. Koya University and since March 2020, started the online learning process. Koya University provided the required e-infrastructure and dopted some applications officialy to be implemented by the academics and students for the sake of the online-learning. For this reason, the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Curriculum Development launched an online-learning  portal that help all academics and students to go smothly and effeciently with online-learning. This portal archives all videos that recorded for the meeting and training courses with the departments at Koya University. Moreove, the portal publishes many training videos on how to use the online learning applications. The portal gives a stage for sdiscussion and wquessions that may beraised by the academics about the implemntation of the online-learning at Koya University. Today, 7^th April 2020 at 7:00 pm, the Higher Committee-MHE of the Online Learing in Kurdistan Region had an important meeting about the implementation of the online learning in Kurdistan Universities and institutes. The committee members presented the e-infrastructures of their universities and their readiness to the online learning.

A Group of researchers from Koya University (KOU),  Kermanshah University of Technology (KUT) and the Duy Tan University (DTU) published a research paper entitled “Design and Fabrication of a High-performance Microstrip Multiplexer Using Computational Intelligence for Multi-band RF Wireless Communications Systems" in the AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications. The paper Presents a novel high-performance microstrip diplexer to operate at 0.78 GHz and 1.85 GHz for GSM applications. Professor Salah I. Yahya is among the researchers, from the Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Koya University. AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications is indexed by Clarivate Analytics with IF=2.853 and indexed by SCOPUS with level Q2.

Dr. Sahar Basil M. Al-Qaisi, the assistant professor at the department of architectural engineering and the director of the Heritage Conservation Research Program (HCRP) at Koya University, has participated on 30 March 2020 as a speaker in the Online International Discussoin on ((Re) Contextualizing Contested Heritage: Building Capacity & Designing Participatory Approaches to Preserve Cultural Heritage by the Youth) which is an activity of the Research England Funding to Develop Participatory Approaches to Preserve Contested Heritage by Youth.

Due to the coronavirus pandamic and to avoid the Koya University staff overcrowding in the Koya University Bank and in the Accounting department, as well, Mr. Alan Nahro Tofiq at the Directorate of Qulaity Assurance created a new database management software to help the staff at Koya University to get the information about their salaries, monthly. Due to the coronavirus pandamic, most of the Universities in the world have been closed and started the online teaching/learning process. Since 2013, KOU has subscribed to Google Apps. for Education (G-Suit), and since that time the course mangament system and the Quality Assurance are implemented using G-Suit applications. Recently, and to achive the e-laearning in a standard and effiecient way, KOU uses Moodle and Google Hangouts Meets as the official applications of KOU for the e-Learning.
