Due to the coronavirus outbreak, all the Universities and institutions in Iraq and the whole world are closed now. The Study may be pursued in April, as the KRG and KOU announced, but we should have our plan B if the situation will be worse and the Universities will remain closed till June or even later. KOU started the online e-lecturing program to be in touch with their students and the students can take their lectures, assignements online while they are staying at home.

A Group of researchers; Hayder H, Abbas, Fakhri H. Ibraheem, Ahmad A. Maaroof from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Koya University published a new original research article entitled  "Pollution Problems in Koya City due to Private Electrical Generators" in the Volume 7, Number 2 (2019) issue of ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University. 

The 2020 International Conference on Resources Management, November 18-19, 202o in Koya, Koya University is the premier forum for the presentation of new advances and research results in the Resources Management. This conference is a prestigious event, organized to provide an international platform for academicians, researchers, managers, industrial participants and students to share their research findings with global experts.

A Group of Researchers from KOU Participated the 6^th International Conference on Engineering (IEC 2020) Conference by Presenting a Scientific Paper. The paper has been presented by Dr. Galawezh B. Bapir, from Faculty of Engineering at Koya University. The  IEC 2020 has been held in Feb. 26-27, 2020 by Tishk International University and Erbil Polytechnic University and technically sponsored by IEEE and IEEE Iraq section.

A Group of researchers; Dr. Yazen A. Khaleel and Prof. Salah I. Yahya from the Department of Software Engineering, and Dr. Rahel Kh. Ibrahim from the Department of Civil Engineering at KOU published a new original research article entitled  "Skin Temperature Distribution over Human Head Due to Handheld Mobile Phone Call using Thermal Imaging Camera" in the Volume 7, Number 2 (2019) issue of ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University.

ARO is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes original works in areas of Science and Engineering. ARO has been indexed by DOAJ and got DOAJ Seal. ARO has been accepted for indexing in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), a new edition of Web of Science™ - Clarivate Analytics (Thomson Reuters) since Feb 2016.

Today, 4^th of March 2020, Koya University announced the preliminary results of the postgraduate candidates. The postgraduate programs at Koya Universitiy insclude;

1. M.Sc. program,
2. Higher Diploma program, and
3. Ph.D. Program.

Dr. Shaymaa Fadhel Jassim Alkubaissy, a teaching staff at the Department of Architectural Enginerring, Koya University, has been selected as a member of the international scientific board of The 4th edition of the International Symposium “New Metropolitan Perspectives.” The Symposium will take place in Reggio Calabria (Italy) from 26 to 28 May, 2020. As a member of the international scientific board, Dr. Shaymaa will chair the thematic session TS-26. Urban Resilience. The symposium is jointly promoted by the LaborEst and the CLUDsLab Laboratories of the PAU Department, Università Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria, Italy, in partnership with a qualified international network of academic institutions and scientific societies. 

Assistant Prof. Dr. Sarmad N. Mageed at the Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Science and Health, Koya University (KOU) , Chaired a Committee of an M.Sc. Viva Voce Exam Session  in the field of Parasitology that was held at the College of Medicine, University of Sulaimani, on Thursday, February 27th, 2020. The M.Sc. thesis entitled "Comparison Study of Giardia lamblia detection in Sulaimani Province by using of Microscopic, Serologic and Molecular Methods." The MSc study involved applying of existent and new techniques for the detection of the prevalence of Giardia lamblia parasites among various categories of the community, particularly in the children level, for the sake of controlling the infection.

On February 17th, 2020, Professor Salah I. Yahya managed a workshop entitled; Koya University in a Half Decade (2015-2020). Befor the workshop, Dr. Haidar Lashkry, the Vice-President for Scientific & Postgraduate affairs, had a presentation about the Quality Assurance and the post graduate studies at Koya Universitity. After that, Prof. Dr. Wali Hamad, the President of Koya University had a 30 min speech about the Koya University Scientific Achievement during the past 5 years.

Dr Sahar Basil Mahmood Al-Qaisi from the Department of Architectural Engineering, and the director of the Heritage Conservation Research Program (HCRP) at the Research Center of the Faculty of Engineering at Koya University, has participated in the European Architectural History Network (EAHN) annual business meeting and the research poster session that took place in Aversa/Caserta (Naples) in Italy on January 24. 2020 as a councillor for the EAHN.
