Koya University is located in the city of Koya (Koysinjaq), which is a 1.0 hr drive to the East of the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil (Arbil, Hewlér) in Kurdistan Region of F.R. Iraq. An international workshop on the "Health Benefits of Exercise and Physical Activity" was hosted by Koya University's Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Physical Education in cooperation with the University of Perugia, Italy.

At Koya University, Huawei intends to establish a research and coordinating academy.
For Koya University students and graduates, training programs will be performed through the academy, and they will receive Huawei credentials as a result.
