Koya University Int Workshop on Gas Flares April 2018

Gas flares provide for safe emergency release of purged or waste gases from refineries, unrecoverable gases from oil wells, blast furnaces gases, coke oven gases, and waste gases from chemical plants. Flares also process waste gases from sewage digesters, coal and bio-mass gasifiers and fertilizer plants. Gas flares safely dispose of vapor streams by “combusting” them under controlled conditions to minimize impact on nearby equipment or personnel while meeting environmental regulations and public relations requirements.

ARO is indexed by DOAJ and now added to DOAJ Seal

In today's ever rapid open access scientific work the role of quality check indexing services become more and more vital to help a quick way for finding more reliable and open information sources. One of these major player is the Database of Open Access Journal (DOAJ) which is used by many scholars around the world. Aro-The Scientific Journal of Koya University has been listed by DOAJ for sometimes now and just recently has been approved to be listed in DOAJ Seal. This is a good news for our research communities who have managed to published with Aro-The Scientific Journal of Koya University so far. The DOAJ Seal list is provided to handful selected jurnal worldwide that adhere to outstanding best practice; journals that don’t have the Seal are good, trusted journals adhering to best practice.

The First Training Program of the Mental Health Support Service Completed

On Sunday November 19th 2017, the trainees’ graduation ceremony of the first training program of the Mental Health and Psychological Support Service held at the Presidency Building of Koya University. The ceremony was held with the presence of the US General Consul to Erbil Ken Gross, the head of the SEED Foundation and the Council Member of Koya University. At the beginning, Ms. Frishta the head of the Center presented her welcome speech to the audience and after her, the US General Consul to Erbil Ken Gross gave his speech as follows:

Koya University and Bielefeld University (Germany) have assigned a agreement to conduct collaborative work on an importnat project that deal with “Transformations of War and Barbarism”. This project is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. The project will fully fund a PhD study on the topic of this project. Koya Univeristy will candidate a PhD student from the Department of Clinical Psychology (DCLP) to carry on the study.

The PhD study proposal will be about the investigation of the psychological impact of the war, especially the recent Daesh (ISIS) war and its related effects on the Kurdish society.

2017 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF)

A team of Fulbright Exchange Program Alumni from Koya University won a grant within the competition “ 2017 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF)” which is amongst the “ U.S. Embassy Grants Program “. The team were consist of: Mr. Peshawa J. Muhammad Ali, a lecturer from department of software engineering, Koya University, Dr. Hamid Abdulsalm from Spring International Language Center, Koya University, and the retired professor of Koya University Dr. Hamid Muhammad Jassim (currently working at UKH).

Funded Training Course in the US via STEM Program

This summer five Koya university academic staff are fully funded from the US consulate in Baghdad to participate in the  Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program which will take place at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville from the 19th of August through the 23rd of September, 2017.

Koya University student built a surveillance drone

A student of fourth stage in Manufacturing Engineering at our university has made a drone, which can be used in the fields of Agriculture, Media, Military and many other fields. 

Shvan Hakim, senior student of Manufacturing Engineering Department at the faculty of Engineering- Koya University, has made a small drone with some outstanding features that can be highly advantageous for Kurdish community as a product of a Kurdish student. 

Students from Koya University championed the Scientific Challenge

In a scientific completion held between seven universities of Kurdistan Region to build a robust bridge, Koya University team took the first place.  The American University of Sulaimani hosted the contest and sponsored the project on 14/5/2017; where a team of Koya University took part in the race and came out on top. 

Post-doctoral research on the solar energy

Dr. Mohammad Ghaffar who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Health and Science and Department of Physics, has conducted his post-doctoral research on the scholarship of Marhaba Project into the solar energy. “I was able to succeed in doing my post-doctoral study on the scholarship of Marhaba Project at the University of Santiago De Compost Ella in Spain for six months, during October 1st, 2016 to April 1st, 2017.” Dr. Mohammad Gaffar Said.
