Dr. Sahar Basil Mahmood the Director of the Heritage Conservation Research Program (HCRP) and Dr. Manar Nazar Ahmed the member of the HCRP, both are from the Department of Architectural Engineering (DARE) were participated in a 4-week International Advanced Training Course as part of the Aid for Mosul program entitled “Causes of Decay and Preservation of Building Architectural Heritage II” which was held on 5-30 Sept. 2021. The training course was sponsored by the Czech Republic and organized by the National Heritage Institute of the Czech Republic (NHI), GEMAART (GEMA), and the Iraqi Institute for the Conservation of Antiquities and Heritage (IICAH).

According to the regulation that issued recently by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the Universities in the region are going to implement the Bologna Process in their study programs starting from the academic year 2022-2023, where some universities already started Bologna Process for some departments, few years ago. Accordingly, KOU established a higher committee of the Bologna Process (HCBP) that start its first meeting today, 7th Feb. 2022.

For six days, twelve sessions and more than 24 hrs, the Department of Software Eningeering in collaboration with the Research Center at the Faculty of Engineering, Koya University held a training course entitled “Research Process from A to Z.” The training course that targeted academic staff at Koya University tackled the main topics regarding; research structure and types, how to write a research paper, how to write a research proposal, indexing bodies and LaTex.

Tishk International University (TIU) organizes the international conference on “Applied Sciences, Energy and Environment”, ICASEE at the Faculty of Education. Webometrics has announced the January edition of 2022 University Ranking. 32,000 worldwide Universities,100 Iraqi Universities and 27 KRG Universities were listed in this Edition of Webometrics University Ranking. Usually, three criteria are considered in the Webometics, i.e., Impact, Openness and Excellence. In this Edition, the Openness (Google Scholar Profile) criterion was not considered and the ranking was announced based on Impact and Excellence, only. 

On Wednesday, 8/12/2021, the Department of Architectureal Engineering (DARE) at Koya University (KOU) held a national workshop entitled "Sustainable Building Strategie". The aim of this workshop is to present the approach to explore the passive and active strategies to increase thermal comfort and indoor air quality while minimizing energy consumption during the design or the renovation of the existing buildings.

The Directorate of Public Relations at Koya University announces a New launched Edition (2020-2022) of Erasmus Plus Program that has two programs ran by the University of Almeria through Erasmus Plus 2020-2022:

1. STA PROGRAM  'staff mobility for a teaching assignment'. Here, the applicants should have at least a Ph.D. degree, fluent English speaking skills, and have a specialty in the following fields; Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Biochemistry, Environment, English.
2. STT PROGRAM  'staff mobility for training', here, the applicants should have at least a Ph.D. degree, fluent English speaking skills, and they must be familiar with the work done in international relations.

Faculty of Science and Health hosted two days’ workshop on ‘The Structure of a Scientific Paper and its publication’. As many as 68 academic staff attended the workshop that was jointly organized by Biology and Physics Department from the same faculty on Tuesday and Wednesday. Since a successful publication of research brings attention to scholars and their institutions.

The Directorate of Career Services at Koya University in coordination with the, Ministry of Planning-FRI, Ministry of Industry and Minerals- FRI, Ministry of Water Resources-FRI, Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources-KRG, Ministry of Planning-KRG, General Directorate of Industrial Development- KRI, and KRG’s Investment Board, and many national and international non-governmental organizations and companies conducted a national symposium on “Combating Desertification and Drought in Iraq via Promoting Sustainable Industrial Startups” on 05^th December 2021.
